An end to voluntary sleep deprivation? 

As you can see from the last post, I didn't get any sleep until 7-ish in the morning, and woke up at 1 feeling rather lousy. That does it then: cut down on the staying up until morning. Which is why this post won't be as long as usual as I adjust to this new schedule. Besides, nothing much happened today. Fixed Dad's internet connection (though I don't know what was wrong in the first place), taught him how to set the delivery method to "No mail" in his mailing lists, and set up a system that will enable me to know if he's offline for sure so I don't accidentally cut him off when he's sending e-mails as I turn off my computer. To be more specific, we now communicate via Yahoo Messenger. It might be a bit superfluous, especially considering I'm just one floor above him in this house. But what's the point of technology if it can't make things more convenient? So now I don't have to guess if he's really online even though the connection's still active (he usually goes to bed early), his e-mail drafts don't go kaput when he clicks Send, and we get to save more electricity. Everybody wins. Now all I have to do is cut down on those day-long downloads...
