The Umpteenth Journal Attempt

Been awhile, eh? It's March right now, and from what I remember, this is usually the time that I end up abandoning any form of journal that I've been keeping since the year began, so I guess the recent lack of posts may be attributed to the March Laziness Syndrome kicking in. Plus I've been really busy as of late, going out of my mind trying to meet deadlines, and then on to the post-slave labour comedown phase.

Anyway, last night I almost got killed in a car accident in Menteng. Well, maybe "killed" is a bit of an exaggeration, but it was pretty bad crash. I was in the back seat of Jamal's car, leaning on the left as the car was making a right turn...only to run into green light traffic from the left side. Managed to avoid one car, but couldn't get out of the way of another, which hit the door where I was sitting. I seem to have registered that impact was imminent, so I instinctively threw myself to the other side of the car just as we (me, Jamal and Ida) were hit. Both the left-side doors of Jamal's car were badly damaged, but nothing a body shop can't fix in a few days. The other car, however, came off much worse: the front was totalled, the hood was bent out of shape, and even the engine had its parts rearranged. Cue the obligatory bargaining.

To be honest, the guy who was actually behind the wheel was pretty nice. Sure he was pissed, but he was open to negotiations. Whereas his passenger was a certified asshole, who kept on insisting that they take Jamal's car "so as to get on with their interrupted engagements". Screw that shit. We ended up trying to tune that fat bastard's ranting out, but judging from our conversations since the crash, all talk ends up referring to El Fatso Assholo.
