The Village People Moustache 

Saw Collateral with Citra. Been awhile since I watched movies with any sort of regularity; I've been missing out a lot 'cause I didn't have anyone to go with. So, yeah, it's a nice little arrangement. And it was a cool movie - Tom Cruise did a swell job in pulling off his role as a psycho contract killer. Oscar worthy? I dunno, but if it worked for Denzel...

And now for the latest installment in Cosmic Pop Culture Coincidence: one of the supporting characters in Collateral is Frank Pedarosa, this FBI guy who doesn't do much apart from track down Vincent (Tom Cruise) to a nightclub and gets shot. The guy who plays Pedarosa is one Bruce McGill. So? Flashback to this morning: they show MacGyver re-runs every weekday at 9 o'clock on Star World. I missed out on the whole MacGyver thing back when it was huge here, so it wasn't part of my childhood and I don't go all nostalgic over it. Which is why I don't stick around whenever I turn on the TV and it's on. I didn't stick around for the entirety of this episode, so why am I talking about it now?

From what little I did catch, I seemed to have latched on to the character Jack Dalton, MacGyver's buddy who made a number of appearances during the series' course. No idea why, maybe it was the Village People moustache that got stuck in my head. This was the second time I'd seen him in an episode - the first time was a tiny blip on my radar, and this made more of an impact. Anyway, guess who played Jack Dalton?

Bonus Coincidence: at the beginning of the movie, there's a pivotal cameo by Jason Statham as a courier who supplies Vincent's hitlist. Just now on Star World I saw an ad for a flick that'll be showing on Star Movies soon. The flick? The Transporter, starring...ah, you know the rest.
