Progress, slow progress

Didn't feel like going to class this morning. Not that going to bed at around three helped matters. Even if did manage get myself to campus, I'd end up falling asleep anyway. Plus my bed and other more comfortable slumber spots are all at home, so why bother?

So I just went to meet my thesis counselor. Was supposed to meet him last Friday, but I was just finishing up work and my brain was too fried to even think. And I hadn't got much done since the meeting before that. Heck, I didn't even have anything done since that last meeting, but I figured I might as well go see him anyway, 'cos I gotta meet the five-meetings-minimal quota and time's a-ticking. The meeting was pretty fruitful; at least I've got a better idea of what to do next with my thesis. Now to get my brain in gear...

Went on to the djakarta! office after that, just to drop by and pick up freebie music sent by assorted record labels. Extra special shout out to EMI Music Indonesia, who send CDs instead of tapes. Got some pretty good stuff from them: The Vines' Winning Days, Joss Stone's The Soul Sessions and Haven's All For A Reason. Of course, the good always comes with the cheesy. David Hasselhoff Sings America, anyone?

From the office, it was on to Aksara Kemang to pick up one of the two CDs I ordered ('cos I'm low on funds at the moment, heh heh). I bought the reissue of Phantom Planet's The Guest, and brought a rather weird CD purchase episode to an end. To recap: I was enticed to buy the reissue for the numerous extra stuff added - extra tracks, videos, handwritten lyrics, etc. I had already bought the new album, but then I found a copy of the special edition at Music+, which included the reissue and the new album. I asked the shop to put it on hold for me to pick up at a later date ('cos, again, I was low on funds). Turns out Yoga also bought a copy, and brought it along when he came to visit. I discovered that the reissue in the double pack didn't come with the booklet, so that put me off a bit. But not enough to go ahead and buy the copy I had on hold anyway. Dunno why, maybe it was a guilt thing.

Now here's where it gets bizarre: after getting home with my purchase, I wanted to play the reissue on my CD player. Thing was, the CD wasn't easy to get out of the bloody jewel case, but I finally got it out...by inadvertantly snapping the CD in two. Lesson 1: never tug at the CD from the sides if you want to get it out of the jewel case. And I didn't even get to listen to it once. Didn't even bother to listen to the other disc, 'cos I already had it. I tried taping the CD back together, but no dice. Lesson 2: all the Sellotape in the world will not make a broken CD work, even though it does seem to hold together. Damn technology.

Anyway, I finally have my Guest reissue, with all the extras I wanted. Now I gotta copy it to a blank CD-R and sell it off to someone who isn't a stickler for original product.

Also while at Aksara, had a glimpse at my other order: Weezer's Blue Album Deluxe Edition, an enhanced version of the album that pretty much shaped my music taste as it is now. I already have the album, I've already heard most (if not all) of the songs on the bonus disc, but I'm buying it anyway because...well it's Weezer. What other reason do I need?

A double dose of blog

Sunday, March 18th: Had a wedding to attend in the morning, then it was on to preparations for this year's high school alumni football tournament. It's been a while since I've done anything remotely athletic, let alone play football. So naturally I was very rusty and short on stamina. The tournament's next month, so it looks like I'll have to go jogging or something to burn off the calories.

Later on went with Ikhwan, Acid and Oti to this Beatles Night thing at Mario's Place. Better than the last one I went to, 'cause it didn't have any showboating irritants trying to steal the show. One thing puzzles me, though: does there always have to be bloody John Lennon songs chucked in? He's not the only Beatle, y'know. Bloody 'Imagine' and 'Jealous Guy'. Made me flash back to Agus 'The Lennons' Vega (see Beatles Night). Ugh.

Monday, March 19th: Today was spent vegging out and getting as much sleep as possible. Got some new household help; what, so soon after I finally got to mopping the floor for the first time? Just as well, I guess; I was doing a very crap job anyway, so at least the house'll be more clean.

Oh yeah, I just got to thinking: I know someone's reading this, but just who exactly, and how many? I'm gonna write this regardless of whether anyone reads this or not, but I'd just like to have a better idea of who's reading this. So if you're reading this, feel free to click on the Blabs link below and post a message.
